Quinoa in Hindi

People these days want to know how to say quinoa in Hindi. It’s no surprise that this once-obscure crop has made a name for itself all around the world!

Starting out in South America, quinoa’s notoriety has spread to the great nation of India.

And the people of India want to be able to pronounce quinoa in their own language. For many, that’s Hindi.

So let’s talk about…

  2. The Hindi language

Quinoa

Quinoa isn’t a grain, though many people like to call it a super-grain.

It’s actually a seed, grown typically in the Andes Mountains of South America.

Quinoa is full of nutrition, has a low glycemic index, and is even safe for dogs! It’s low in calories, low in carbs, and is a complete protein.

There’s more we can say but we’ll leave it there for now.

The Hindi Language

Hindi is one of the official languages of India. In 1991 there were 180 million people who spoke Hindi. That means it’s the 6th most popular language in the world.

Now that you know some of the details about both quinoa and the Hindi language, let’s figure out how to say quinoa in the Hindi language.

Quinoa in Hindi

Until this point, not many Hindi-speakers have wondered how to say quinoa in Hindi.

Quinoa has been leading a quiet life in South America, thousands of miles away from the people who speak the Hindi language.

But now that quinoa has become so popular -- for all the reasons we listed above -- Hindi speakers want to know how to pronounce and spell it in their language.

Why? I imagine they want to buy it, cook it, and make some recipes with it!

Now, there is no word for quinoa in Hindi. So the best we can do is to transliterate it into the Devanagari script.

So, here’s what quinoa looks like in Hindi...
